Well, we left off last time after doing a jet tour over the 7 trumpet and 7 bowl judgments. The plagues that were coming were so intense that they would wipe out all humankind if they weren’t limited to these 3 ½ years. Some of the plagues, the bowls for example, are limited to days or weeks because of their deadliness. We went through them very quickly so that we wouldn’t get bogged down further in the judgment aspects of the end times.
It’s very easy to get mired in the details when studying the book of Revelation. But really, even if a person were alive during that time, it’s not as though you could keep track of what had happened on some check list. The easiest thing to do would be to count the passing of days from the Abomination of Desolation.
This time period is going to be very dark and horrific. Not only physically and emotionally, but spiritually as well.
The book of Amos describes it this way;
Amos 8:9-12 It will happen in that day,” says the Lord Yahweh, “that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day. 10 I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will make you wear sackcloth on all your bodies, and baldness on every head. I will make it like the mourning for an only son, and its end like a bitter day. 11 Behold, the days come,” says the Lord Yahweh, “that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing Yahweh’s words. 12 They will wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east; they will run back and forth to seek God’s word, and will not find it.
So, having finished the judgments, we now come to the last major events of man’s day on earth. These events happen in the very last days of the 7-year Tribulation, leading into the 1000-year reign of Christ. This is the last effort by the antichrist, and the Evil One who empowers him, to overcome God in the war for mastery. The seals have been opened, the trumpets sounded, and the bowls poured out.
Now there are three events before the physical return of Christ; The two witnesses are killed, The Babylonian religious system and city is destroyed, and the Battle of Armageddon begins.
The two witnesses are killed.
Remember we talked about God sending two witnesses at the beginning of the final 3 and ½ years to call the world to repentance, and to call down plagues on the earth? Well, something finally happens to them. You can imagine that the antichrist and Satan himself have been trying for 3 and ½ years to take these guys out. Well, they are finally successful. This is what happens.
Revelation 11: 3 And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.”
4 These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands standing before the [b]God of the earth. 5 And if anyone wants to harm them, fire proceeds from their mouth and devours their enemies. And if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this manner. 6 These have power to shut heaven, so that no rain falls in the days of their prophecy; and they have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to strike the earth with all plagues, as often as they desire.
7 When they finish their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit will make war against them, overcome them, and kill them. 8 And their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also [c]our Lord was crucified. 9 Then those from the peoples, tribes, tongues, and nations [d]will see their dead bodies three-and-a-half days, and not allow their dead bodies to be put into graves. 10 And those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them, make merry, and send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who dwell on the earth.
So, the antichrist is finally able to kill them. And he and the world are so overjoyed that these two are dead, that they leave their dead bodies up for display on the streets of Jerusalem. I suspect that there will be 24-hour coverage of their murder, and their corpses around the globe. The world will think that the antichrist was successful in killing the source of their plagues. The world will blame these men for all the agony and death that they’ve endured. So, it will be a party. Just as Jesus’ enemies thought they had won by crucifying Jesus, these will think they have won by killing these two witnesses. But they should have more carefully read their Bibles. Because after 3 days, Jesus rose from the grave. And…
11 Now after the three-and-a-half days the breath of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet, and great fear fell on those who saw them. 12 And [e]they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, “Come up here.” And they ascended to heaven in a cloud, and their enemies saw them.
Imagine 24-hour news coverage, and then after 3 and ½ days, these two men start moving. And then they get up. All the decay of death washes away from their faces. And then, a booming voice comes out of the sky saying, “Come up here!” And they rise up into the sky and finally disappear.
But that’s not the end of the story,
Revelation 11 says,
12 And [e]they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, “Come up here.” And they ascended to heaven in a cloud, and their enemies saw them. 13 In the same hour there was a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell. In the earthquake seven thousand people were killed, and the rest were afraid and gave glory to the God of heaven.
Remember the 7th bowl.
Revelation 16: 17 And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done. 18 And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great.
So, when these two witnesses ascend, there is an earthquake to beat all previous earthquakes. Well, how strong of an earthquake is it?
19 And the great city (Jerusalem) was divided into three parts, (a tenth of the city falls) and the cities of the nations fell:
This earthquake is so huge that it causes all the cities of the entire earth to crumble. And one city in particular is noted.
and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath. 20 And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.
Mountains are crumbling and islands are sinking into the sea. And besides the devastation of the earthquake,
21 And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: (75 pounds) and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great.
So, people are fleeing buildings for fear of the earthquake, but outside 75-pound hail is falling from the sky.
This reminds me of Jeremiah’s prophecy of the end.
Jeremiah 25:30-33 30 “Therefore prophesy against them all these words, and tell them, “‘Yahweh will roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation. He will mightily roar against his fold. He will give a shout, as those who tread grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth. 31 A noise will come even to the end of the earth; for Yahweh has a controversy with the nations. He will enter into judgment with all flesh. As for the wicked, he will give them to the sword,”’ says Yahweh.” 32 Yahweh of Armies says, “Behold, evil will go out from nation to nation, and a great storm will be raised up from the uttermost parts of the earth.” 33 The slain of Yahweh will be at that day from one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth. They won’t be lamented. They won’t be gathered or buried. They will be dung on the surface of the ground.
Now we come the Fall of Babylon, and the Battle of Armageddon.
The Fall of Babylon
Just prior to the return of Christ the 7th bowl of judgment is poured out. Jerusalem is struck with an earthquake that splits the city into three parts. Other cities around the world are struck and the damage is devastating on a worldwide scale. And, at this time, God also strikes the city of Babylon, the religious seat of antichrists power. In addition to the earthquake and hailstones, God will reign down fire and brimstone on that city. They will be judged for idolatry, and for their violence against the people of God. Prophecies concerning Babylon’s destruction go clear back to the Old Testament. They will be judged for all the sins of Babylon throughout history.
Isaiah 21: 9 Behold, here comes a troop of men, horsemen in pairs.” He answered, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon; and all the engraved images of her gods are broken to the ground.
Jeremiah 51: 24 “And I will repay Babylon And all the inhabitants of Chaldea For all the evil they have done In Zion in your sight,” says the Lord. 25 “Behold, I am against you, O destroying mountain, Who destroys all the earth,” says the Lord. “And I will stretch out My hand against you, Roll you down from the rocks, And make you a burnt mountain. 26 They shall not take from you a stone for a corner Nor a stone for a foundation, But you shall be desolate forever,” says the Lord.
36 Therefore thus says the Lord: “Behold, I will plead your case and take vengeance for you. I will dry up her sea and make her springs dry. 37 Babylon shall become a heap, A dwelling place for jackals, An astonishment and a hissing, Without an inhabitant. 38 They shall roar together like lions, They shall growl like lions’ whelps. 39 In their excitement I will prepare their feasts; I will make them drunk, That they may rejoice, And sleep a perpetual sleep And not awake,” says the Lord. 40 “I will bring them down Like lambs to the slaughter, Like rams with male goats.
Ezekial 38:22 22 I will enter into judgment with him with pestilence and with blood. I will rain on him, and on his hordes, and on the many peoples who are with him, an overflowing shower, with great hailstones, fire, and sulfur.
Now, the prophecies of the Old Testament can be difficult to interpret because the ancient kingdom of Babylon was destroyed long ago, and prophets gave prophecies about that destruction. But the book of Revelation looks to a day when “Babylon” the false religious system behind the antichrist will be destroyed completely and for good.
Revelation 14:8 8 And another angel followed, saying, “Babylon[a] is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she has made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.”
Rev 18 After these things I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was illuminated with his glory. 2 And he cried [a]mightily with a loud voice, saying, “Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and has become a dwelling place of demons, a prison for every foul spirit, and a cage for every unclean and hated bird! 3 For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich through the [b]abundance of her luxury.”
4 And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. 5 For her sins [c]have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities. 6 Render to her just as she rendered [d]to you, and repay her double according to her works; in the cup which she has mixed, mix double for her. 7 In the measure that she glorified herself and lived [e]luxuriously, in the same measure give her torment and sorrow; for she says in her heart, ‘I sit as queen, and am no widow, and will not see sorrow.’ 8 Therefore her plagues will come in one day—death and mourning and famine. And she will be utterly burned with fire, for strong is the Lord God who [f]judges her.
9 “The kings of the earth who committed fornication and lived luxuriously with her will weep and lament for her, when they see the smoke of her burning, 10 standing at a distance for fear of her torment, saying, ‘Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! For in one hour your judgment has come.’
“And the merchants of the earth will weep and mourn over her, for no one buys their merchandise anymore: 12 merchandise of gold and silver, precious stones and pearls, fine linen and purple, silk and scarlet, every kind of citron wood, every kind of object of ivory, every kind of object of most precious wood, bronze, iron, and marble; 13 and cinnamon and incense, fragrant oil and frankincense, wine and oil, fine flour and wheat, cattle and sheep, horses and chariots, and bodies and souls of men.
So here is the question that I have pondered for years; Where or who or what is Babylon today? The way it’s described here, it would seem to be an actual place, a real city. We understand that it is a system of religion. But if God is going to rain down fire and brimstone on “Babylon” it has to have its headquarters somewhere. Well, my opinion is that we won’t know the answer to that question until the Tribulation time starts. I suspect that this world, anti-Christian religious system will take up residence in some city of our world. Maybe it will be Rome, maybe Mecca. But wherever it is, that city and system will embody all the evil of false religion and anti-God religion that has existed through the ages. On the surface, it appears rich, glamorous, and sophisticated. But behind the scenes it is hateful, evil, and murderous. I believe that during the Tribulation, it will be a number of religious systems cooperating together to advance the antichrist. Mormonism, Catholicism, Islam, and even eastern religions will band together for the beast, and against true Christianity.
Now, I believe that the fall of Babylon will occur just before, or at the start of the Battle of Armageddon. I don’t think it will happen after the return of Christ because the narrative describes people grieving over the city. I think that when Jesus returns, nobody will be thinking about anything but His return, and their personal imminent judgment.
So, that’s the first two events that bring on the final days, now we come to the Battle of Armageddon. You might think that all this final flurry of activity would halt the march of armies coming to Israel. The two witnesses rise from the dead. An earthquake hits right after they ascend that rocks the whole world. 75-pound hailstones fall out of the earth’s skies. You would think that the leaders of the world and the world’s armies would pause and say, “Hey guys, I wonder if we are fighting on the wrong side?” But no. They are inspired and driven by evil personified. They are marching inexorably to that final battle regardless of any message delivered by holy men, angels, or God Himself. Now I’ve broken the Scriptures about this Battle of Armageddon into sections; The announcement, The preparation, the beginning, and the 2nd Coming.
The BATTLE OF ARMAGEDDON
The announcement
Remember that earlier, between the trumpets and
bowls, three angels flew through the sky, calling the world to
repentance. Now we have another angel.
Revelation 19:17-19 I saw an angel standing in the sun. He cried with a loud
voice, saying to all the birds that fly in the sky, “Come! Be gathered
together to the great supper of God,[a] 18 that you may eat the flesh
of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of
horses and of those who sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and
slave, small and great.” 19 I saw the beast, and
the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war
against him who sat on the horse, and against his army.
The preparation
The Bible describes preparation for the Battle of
Armageddon with two components; the gathering of the armies of the world to
the Valley of Megiddo, and the gathering birds to consume the flesh of those
same armies after they are slain by the Returning Christ.
Gathering of armies
Remember that we’ve already seen this gathering
start as part of the bowl judgments.
Revelation
16: 12 Then the
sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and
its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might
be prepared. 13 And I saw three
unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth
of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth
of the false prophet. 14 For they are
spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to
the kings [g]of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them
to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. 15 “Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he
who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.” 16 And they
gathered them together to the place called in Hebrew, [h]Armageddon.
The Old Testament prophet Joel gives an
apt description of these armies marching toward Israel.
Joel 2: Blow the [a]trumpet in Zion, And sound an alarm in My holy mountain!
Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; For the day of the Lord is
coming, For it is at hand: 2 A day of darkness and
gloominess, A day of clouds and thick darkness, Like the morning clouds spread
over the mountains. A people come, great and strong, The
like of whom has never been; Nor will there ever be any such after
them, Even for many successive generations. 3 A fire
devours before them, And behind them a flame burns; The land is like the
Garden of Eden before them, And behind them a desolate wilderness; Surely
nothing shall escape them. 4 Their appearance is like
the appearance of horses; And like [b]swift steeds, so they run. 5 With a noise
like chariots Over mountaintops they leap, Like the noise of a flaming fire
that devours the stubble, Like a strong people set in battle array. 6 Before
them the people writhe in pain; All faces [c]are drained of color. 7 They run like
mighty men, They climb the wall like men of war; Every one marches in
formation, And they do not break ranks. 8 They do
not push one another; Every one marches in his own [d]column. Though they lunge between the weapons, They are
not [e]cut down.
Then they
arrive in Jerusalem and swarm over the city.
9 They run to and fro in the city, They run on the wall; They
climb into the houses, They enter at the windows like a thief.
Joel 3: 9 Proclaim
this among the nations: “Prepare for war! Wake up the mighty men, Let all the
men of war draw near, Let them come up. 10 Beat your
plowshares into swords And your [g]pruning hooks into spears; Let the weak say, ‘I am strong.’
” 11 Assemble and come, all you nations, And gather
together all around. Cause Your mighty ones to go down there, O Lord. 12 “Let
the nations be wakened, and come up to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; For there I
will sit to judge all the surrounding nations. 13 Put
in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Come, go down; For
the winepress is full, The vats overflow— For their wickedness is great.”
14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision!
For the day of the Lord is near
in the valley of decision.
Zephaniah 3: 8 “Therefore wait
for Me,” says the Lord, “Until the day I rise
up [d]for plunder; My determination is to gather
the nations To My assembly of kingdoms, To pour on them My indignation, All
My fierce anger; All the earth shall be devoured With the fire of My
jealousy.
That’s
the gathering of nations.
Gathering of birds
Isaiah 63:17 “And as
for you, son of man, thus says the Lord God, ‘Speak
to every sort of bird and to every beast of the field: “Assemble yourselves
and come; Gather together from all sides to My sacrificial meal Which I
am sacrificing for you, A great sacrificial meal on the mountains of
Israel, That you may eat flesh and drink blood. 18 You
shall eat the flesh of the mighty, Drink the blood of the princes of the
earth, Of rams and lambs, Of goats and bulls, All of them fatlings of
Bashan. 19 You shall eat fat till you are full, And
drink blood till you are drunk, At My sacrificial meal Which I am sacrificing
for you. 20 You shall be filled at My table With
horses and riders, With mighty men And with all the men of war,” says the
Lord God.
The
Battle of Armageddon begins
So, how
do I begin to describe the battle. All
I can say is that armies are converging on Israel from every corner of the
globe. Scripture tells us that armies
will come from every nation; All the middle eastern countries like Egypt and
Saudi Arabia, the eastern bloc countries of the old Soviet Union like Russia and
the Ukraine, and countries to the east like China and India. We also have to assume that even countries
which are not on the European continent, like the United States, will also
send their armies to Israel. Because
we just read in Revelation 16
14 For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go
out to the kings [g]of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them
to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
And it
says in Joel,
Joel 3: 9 Proclaim
this among the nations: “Prepare for war!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, all
these armies come to Israel, and the city of Jerusalem. Nahum describes it.
Nahum 2: Israel, For the emptiers have emptied them out And ruined their
vine branches. 3 The shields of his mighty men are made
red, The valiant men are in scarlet. The chariots come with
flaming torches In the day of his preparation, And [b]the spears are brandished. 4 The chariots
rage in the streets, They jostle one another in the broad roads; They seem
like torches, They run like lightning.
Now, some
of the things that are described seem a little old fashioned. For example, who goes to war in a chariot
anymore? But remember that the
prophets are describing what they see in visions, and they are describing
them in terms that they understand.
So, Nahum
describes the armies getting into the city of Jerusalem, and Zechariah
describes what those armies do once they get into the city.
Zechariah 14: Behold, the day of the Lord is
coming, And your [a]spoil will be divided in your midst. 2 For I
will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem; The city shall be
taken, The houses [b]rifled, And the women ravished. Half of the city shall go into
captivity, But the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
So, the
invasion of Israel and Jerusalem takes place and the armies take what they
want. This is not an orderly transfer
of power. This is the hatred of Satan
expressed against anyone that gets in his way. And at this moment, it looks
as though Satan will finally accomplish what he has tried to do throughout
history; to wipe out God’s people. Jews
and Christians in Jerusalem will be cowering in their houses. The Jews who fled to the wilderness cannot
hope to survive the onslaught of this massive army. Christians around the globe are in hiding. It
is a very dark hour, in more ways than one.
Death and darkness are everywhere.
Many of the plagues affected the brightness of the sun, moon, and
stars. So, the days are darker in
brightness and in length.
Then, as
the armies continue their pillaging, something further happens to the lights
of our solar system.
Luke 2: 19 And I
will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and
fire, and vapour of smoke: 20 The sun shall be turned
into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and notable day of
the Lord come: 21 And it shall come to pass, that
whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
There’s further
destruction that comes.
2 Peter 3: 10 But
the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the
heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with
fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned
up.
Joel 2:30 I will show wonders in the heavens and in the
earth: blood, fire, and pillars of smoke. 31 The sun
will be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and
terrible day of Yahweh comes. 32 It will happen that
whoever will call on Yahweh’s name shall be saved; for in Mount Zion and in
Jerusalem there will be those who escape, as Yahweh has said, and among the
remnant, those whom Yahweh calls.
The Second Coming of
Christ
And in
all that conflagration, and pitch darkness, there appears a light in the
eastern sky. It first appears like a
faint star, but then it gets closer and closer to the earth. If you can imagine it, as that light
approaches, the people of the earth may think it’s another death star falling
from the sky. But as it gets closer, and as He gets closer, and encircles the globe, its
brilliance becomes brighter than the noon day sun, driving away shadow from
the entire world. And with Him are the
angelic hosts.
Matthew 24: 29 Immediately
after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon
shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the
powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 And then
shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the
tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the
clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
1
Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout,
with the voice of the archangel and with God’s trumpet.
2
Thessalonians 1: 7 And to
you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from
heaven with his mighty angels,
Revelation
1:7 Behold,[b] he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see
him,
Revelation
19:11-12 I saw the
heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and he who sat on it is called
Faithful and True. In righteousness he judges and makes war. 12 His
eyes are a flame of fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has names
written and a name written which no one knows but he himself.
Reaction to the 2nd Coming
And as Christ appears in the sky, the earth will react to
His return.
Malachi 4: “For
behold, the day is coming, Burning like an oven, And all the proud,
yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble. And the day which is coming
shall burn them up,” Says the Lord of
hosts, “That will leave them neither root nor branch. 2 But
to you who fear My name The Sun of Righteousness shall arise With
healing in His wings;
There are three kinds of reactions.
Fear
Isaiah 2: 9 Man is
brought low, and mankind is humbled; therefore don’t forgive them. 10 Enter
into the rock, and hide in the dust, from before the terror of Yahweh, and
from the glory of his majesty. 11 The lofty looks of
man will be brought low, the arrogance of men will be bowed down, and Yahweh
alone will be exalted in that day. 12 For there will
be a day of Yahweh of Armies for all that is proud and arrogant, and for all
that is lifted up; and it shall be brought low: 13 for
all the cedars of Lebanon, that are high and lifted up, for all the oaks of
Bashan, 14 for all the high mountains, for all the
hills that are lifted up, 15 for every lofty tower, for
every fortified wall, 16 for all
the ships of Tarshish,
and for all pleasant imagery. 17 The
loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the arrogance of men shall be
brought low; and Yahweh alone shall be exalted in that day. 18 The
idols shall utterly pass away. 19 Men shall go into
the caves of the rocks, and into the holes of the earth, from before the
terror of Yahweh, and from the glory of his majesty, when he arises to shake
the earth mightily. 20 In that day, men shall cast
away their idols of silver and their
idols of gold, which have been made for themselves to worship, to the moles
and to the bats, 21 to go into the caverns of
the rocks, and into the clefts of the ragged rocks, from before the terror of
Yahweh, and from the glory of his majesty, when he arises to shake the earth
mightily.
Revelation 6:
12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there
was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and
the moon became as blood; 13 And the stars of heaven
fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she
is shaken of a mighty wind. 14 And the heaven departed
as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were
moved out of their places. 15 And the kings of the
earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the
mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens
and in the rocks of the mountains; 16 And said to the
mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that
sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: 17 For
the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
Fear is the first
reaction. But some will fear and flee,
while others fear and repent.
Repentance
Zechariah 12:10 “And I will pour on the
house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and
supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they
will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and
grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn. 11 In
that day there shall be a great mourning in Jerusalem, like the
mourning at Hadad Rimmon in the plain of [c]Megiddo.
Listen to what Jesus said 2000 years ago;
Matthew 23: 37 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the
prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers
her chicks under her wings, but you were not
willing! 38 See! Your house is left to you desolate; 39 for I say to you, you shall see Me no more till
you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name
of the Lord!’ ”
I always read that negatively. With a negative message. Jesus was saying that the Jews of His day,
for the most part, rejected Him. But
there are two positive messages.
First, He is coming back; “You will not see me again until…, and when
He does return, He will be received by a massive group of Jews who see Him
and say, “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.”
And it won’t just be Jews who see Him and repent;
Revelation 1: 7 Behold,
he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which
pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him.
I mentioned earlier that I believe that there will be a time
when many come to Christ during the Tribulation. This is that moment. One response to His coming will be
terror. Another will be repentance.
I think this passage tells us about Jewish and Gentile people
who see Jesus returning, the nail piercings still in His hands and feet, and
they realize that they rejected their Messiah. And they grieve over that fact with a great
grief. Do they get saved? I think that they do. I believe that in that moment, at Christ’s
return, there will be an opportunity to be saved.
Why do I think that?
Because when Jesus returns, those who are living Christians will be
raptured, and receive new immortal bodies.
But there will be those around the world who go into the Millennial
kingdom of Christ as believers.
Zechariah 8:23 “Thus says
the Lord of
hosts: ‘In those days ten men from every language of the
nations shall grasp the sleeve of a Jewish man, saying, “Let us
go with you, for we have heard that God is with
you.” ’ ”
I think there will be
Jews and Gentiles alike who enter the Millennial kingdom as new Christians.
So, many people are saved at the moment of their repentance at seeing Jesus’
return.
But there is a third reaction to the return of Christ;
anger, a readiness to fight Him.
Isaiah 66: 15 For behold, the Lord will come with fire And with His chariots, like a
whirlwind, To render His anger with fury, And His rebuke with flames of fire.
16 For by fire and by His sword The Lord will judge all flesh; And the slain of
the Lord shall
be many.
So, at this moment, Jesus has appeared in the sky, and the
world has reacted with either terror, repentance or fury. But before Jesus descends all the way to
the surface of the earth, He will call His own to Himself by resurrection and
rapture.
Resurrection and Rapture
Resurrection
So, Jesus and His angels are in the atmosphere around the
earth, and with them are the spirits of departed saints.
Jude 14 And
Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the
Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,
Isaiah 26: 19 Your dead
shall live. My dead bodies shall arise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in the
dust; for your dew is like the dew of herbs, and the earth will cast out the
departed spirits. 20 Come, my people, enter into your
rooms, and shut
your doors behind you. Hide yourself for a little moment, until the
indignation is past. 21 For, behold, Yahweh comes out
of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity. The
earth also will disclose her blood, and will no longer cover her slain.
Ezekial 37: The hand of the Lord came
upon me and brought me out in the Spirit of the Lord, and set
me down in the midst of the valley; and it was full of
bones. 2 Then He caused me to pass by them all
around, and behold, there were very many in the open valley;
and indeed they were very dry. 3 And
He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?”
So I answered, “O
Lord God, You know.” 4 Again He said to me,
“Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, ‘O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! 5 Thus
says the Lord God to these bones:
“Surely I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live. 6 I
will put sinews on you and bring flesh upon you, cover you with skin and put
breath in you; and you shall live. Then you shall know that I am the Lord.” ’ ”
” 10 So
I prophesied as He commanded me, and [b]breath came into them, and they lived, and stood upon their
feet, an exceedingly great army.
11 Then He said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole
house of Israel. They indeed say, ‘Our bones are dry, our hope is lost,
and we ourselves are cut off!’ 12 Therefore
prophesy and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God:
“Behold, O My people, I will open your graves and cause you to come up
from your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. 13 Then
you shall know that I am the Lord, when I
have opened your graves, O My people, and brought you up from your
graves. 14 I will put My Spirit in you, and
you shall live, and I will place you in your own land. Then you shall know
that I, the Lord, have spoken it and performed it,”
says the Lord.’ ”
Daniel 12: “At that time Michael shall stand up, The great prince who
stands watch over the sons of your people; And there shall
be a time of trouble, Such as never was since there was a nation, Even to
that time. And at that time your people shall be delivered, Every one
who is found written in the book. 2 And many of
those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, Some to everlasting
life, Some to shame and everlasting [a]contempt. 3 Those who are wise
shall shine Like the brightness of the firmament, And those who turn
many to righteousness Like the stars forever and ever.
1 Corinthians 15: 42 So also is the
resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in
incorruption: 43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised
in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: 44 It
is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural
body, and there is a spiritual body.
1 Thessalonians 4: 13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning
them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again,
even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For
this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and
remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For
the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of
the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise
first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be
caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and
so shall we ever be with the Lord.
So, as Jesus descends, He
cries out to the dead bodies of saints to rise. And this rising will be different than the
rising of Lazarus. Lazarus was raised and
restored to his mortal body. His body
would die again someday. But the dead
bodies of saints will rise, and put on immortality, to never die again. These bodies will be reunited with the
spirits of those saints which have accompanied Christ back to earth.
So, in the skies around the
earth we have the returned Christ, the angels of heaven, the departed saints
reunited with their resurrected bodies, and now comes the…
Rapture
Matthew 24: 31 And he shall
send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather
together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
1 Corinthians 15: 51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we
shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling
of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall
be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For
this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on
immortality. 54 So when this corruptible shall have
put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then
shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in
victory.
Now all the saints of
all the ages, past and present are congregated together in the air. After
all the saints are gathered together in the air, Our Lord continues His
descent down to the surface of the earth.
Where’s He going to land?
It tells us in Revelation 14.
Revelation
14:1-20 I saw, and behold, the Lamb
standing on Mount Zion, and with him a number, one hundred forty-four thousand,
having his name, and the name of his Father, written on their
foreheads. 2 I heard a sound from heaven, like
the sound of many waters, and like the sound of a great thunder. The sound
which I heard was like that of harpists playing on their harps. 3 They
sing a new song before the throne, and before the four living creatures and
the elders. No one could learn the song except the one hundred forty-four
thousand, those who had been redeemed out of the earth.
Christ sets foot on the Mount of Olives along
with the angels and the resurrected and raptured saints.
Revelation 19:11-16 I saw the heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and he
who sat on it is called Faithful and True. In righteousness he judges and
makes war. 12 His eyes are a flame of fire, and
on his head are many crowns. He has names written and a name written which no
one knows but he himself. 13 He is clothed in a
garment sprinkled with blood. His name is called “The Word of God.” 14 The
armies which are in heaven followed him on white horses, clothed in white,
pure, fine linen. 15 Out of his mouth proceeds a
sharp, double-edged sword, that with it he should strike the nations. He will
rule them with an iron rod.
Zechariah
14:3-7 3 Then Yahweh will go out and fight against those nations, as when
he fought in the day of battle. 4 His feet will
stand in that day on the Mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the
east; and the Mount of Olives will be split in two, from east to west, making
a very great valley. Half of the mountain will move toward the north, and
half of it toward the south.
Those living in Jerusalem, who have repented,
run to meet the Lord.
These are the Jews and Christians who were
cowering in their houses, suffering at the hands of the antichrist’s invading
armies. They see the Lord, and now
they run to Him through the valley created when He set foot on the Mount of
Olives.
Joel 3:15 The sun and moon will grow
dark, And the stars will diminish their brightness. 16 The Lord also
will roar from Zion, And utter His voice from Jerusalem; The heavens and
earth will shake; But the Lord will be a shelter for
His people, And the strength of the children of Israel. 17 “So
you shall know that I am the Lord your
God, Dwelling in Zion My holy mountain.
Isaiah 28: 5 In that day, Yahweh of Armies will become a crown of glory and a
diadem of beauty to the residue of his people, 6 and
a spirit of justice to him who sits in judgment, and strength to those who
turn back the battle at the gate.
Zechariah
14:5 5 You shall flee by the valley of my mountains; for the valley of
the mountains shall reach to Azel; yes, you shall flee, just like you fled
from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Yahweh my God
will come, and all the holy ones with you.[a
Malachi 3: 2 “But who can endure the day of His coming?
And who can stand when He appears? For He is like
a refiner’s fire And like launderers’ soap. 3 He will
sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver; He will purify the sons of Levi,
And [a]purge them as gold and silver, That they may offer to
the Lord An
offering in righteousness.
After this rescue of the
repentant, the Lord turns to fight the world’s armies in the Valley of
Megiddo.
And it is a slaughter
Psalm
2:9 He treads the wine press of
the fierceness of the wrath of God, the Almighty. 16 He
has on his garment and on his thigh a name written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD
OF LORDS.”
Isaiah 29: 5 But the multitude of your foes will be like fine dust, and
the multitude of the ruthless ones like chaff that blows away. Yes, it will
be in an instant, suddenly. 6 She will be visited
by Yahweh of Armies with thunder, with earthquake, with great noise, with
whirlwind and storm, and with the flame of a devouring fire. 7 The
multitude of all the nations that fight against Ariel, even all who fight
against her and her stronghold, and who distress her, will be like a dream, a
vision of the night.
Isaiah 63: Who is this
who comes from Edom, With dyed garments from Bozrah, This One who is [a]glorious in His apparel, Traveling in the greatness of His
strength?— “I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save.” 2 Why is Your
apparel red, And Your garments like one who treads in the winepress? 3 “I
have trodden the winepress alone, And from the peoples no one was with
Me. For I have trodden them in My anger, and trampled them in My fury; Their
blood is sprinkled upon My garments, And I have stained all My robes. 4 For
the day of vengeance is in My heart, And the year of My
redeemed has come. 6 I have trodden down the peoples
in My anger, Made them drunk in My fury, And brought down their strength to
the earth.”
Maybe initially these armies might presume to
fight the Lord. But they will be
fighting the supernatural power of God.
He commands the elements, and is Himself indestructible. In a very short moment, they see their
doom, and choose to flee to the mountains.
Ezekial 39: “And you, son of man,
prophesy against Gog, and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God:
“Behold, I am against you, O Gog, [a]the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal; 2 and
I will turn you around and lead you on, bringing you up from the
far north, and bring you against the mountains of Israel. 3 Then
I will knock the bow out of your left hand, and cause the arrows to fall out
of your right hand. 4 You shall [b]fall upon the mountains of Israel, you and all your troops and
the peoples who are with you; I will give you to birds
of prey of every sort and to the beasts of the field to be
devoured. 5 You shall [c]fall on [d]the open field; for I have spoken,” says the Lord God. 6 “And
I will send fire on Magog and on those who live [e]in security in the coastlands. Then they shall know that
I am the Lord. 7 So
I will make My holy name known in the midst of My people Israel, and I will
not let them profane My holy name anymore. Then the
nations shall know that I am the Lord, the
Holy One in Israel. 8 Surely it is coming, and it
shall be done,” says the Lord God. “This is the
day of which I have spoken.
Zechariah 12: 2 “Behold, I will make
Jerusalem a cup of [b]drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege
against Judah and Jerusalem. 3 And it shall
happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all
peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all
nations of the earth are gathered against it. 4 In
that day,” says the Lord, “I will strike every
horse with confusion, and its rider with madness; I will open My eyes on the
house of Judah, and will strike every horse of the peoples with
blindness. 5 And the governors of Judah shall say
in their heart, ‘The inhabitants of Jerusalem are my
strength in the Lord of hosts, their
God.’ 6 In that day I will make the governors of
Judah like a firepan in the woodpile, and like a fiery torch in the
sheaves; they shall devour all the surrounding peoples on the right hand and
on the left, but Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own
place—Jerusalem. 7 “The Lord will
save the tents of Judah first, so that the glory of the house of David and
the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem shall not become greater than that
of Judah. 8 In that day the Lord will
defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; the one who is feeble among them in that
day shall be like David, and the house of David shall be like
God, like the Angel of the Lord before them. 9 It
shall be in that day that I will seek to destroy all
the nations that come against Jerusalem.
Zechariah
14:12 And this shall be the
plague with which the Lord will strike all the
people who fought against Jerusalem: Their flesh shall [h]dissolve while they stand on their feet,
Their eyes shall dissolve in their sockets, And their tongues
shall dissolve in their mouths. 13 It shall come to
pass in that day That a great panic from the Lord will
be among them.
Everyone will seize the hand of his neighbor, And raise his
hand against his neighbor’s hand; 14 Judah also will
fight at Jerusalem. And the wealth of all the surrounding nations
Shall be gathered together: Gold, silver, and apparel in great
abundance. 15 Such also shall be the plague On the
horse and the mule, On the camel and the donkey, And on all
the cattle that will be in those camps. So shall this
plague be.
2 Thessalonians 1: 7 And to
you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from
heaven with his mighty angels, 8 In flaming fire
taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of
our Lord Jesus Christ: 9 Who shall be punished with
everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of
his power; 10 When he shall come to be glorified in
his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony
among you was believed) in that day.
Revelation
14:17 And another angel came out of the temple which
is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle. 18 And
another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried
with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp
sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are
fully ripe. 19 And the angel thrust in his sickle into
the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great
winepress of the wrath of God. 20 And the winepress
was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto
the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs. (1/8
of a mile) (200 miles)
(There is some question as to what it means that the blood from
the battle was as deep as the horse’s bridle for 200 miles. It is a picture of just how many armies
were involved in this final battle. There
were said to be 200 million at least that converged on the plain of Megiddo. And
from the description we get of the battle, the Lord’s presence may have
literally dissolved them down to masses of gore. That could be an explanation. It could be describing the flow of blood through
one of the river basins being filled with blood, to the horse’s bridle for
200 miles.)
Revelation 19:11 And I saw
heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called
Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. 12 His
eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a
name written, that no man knew, but he himself. 13 And
he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The
Word of God. 14 And the armies which were in heaven
followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. 15 And
out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the
nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the
winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16 And
he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King Of Kings, And Lord Of Lords.
After the slaughter, come the birds.
Birds descend on the slain of the Battle of Armageddon
Revelation 19:17 And I saw an angel
standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls
that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the
supper of the great God; 18 That ye may eat the flesh
of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the
flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both
free and bond, both small and great.
So, the question that I am often asked is, “Where will we be in
all of this?” I see nothing that
indicates that we participate in the Battle.
We are not needed.
Revelation 19: 14 And
the armies in heaven, clothed in [f]fine
linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses.
Christ and His
angels do the fighting. We observe
from afar. The Scripture doesn’t even
say that we’ve set foot on earth yet. Christ
set foot on the Mount of Olives, a mass of people fled to Him out of
Jerusalem, then He steps forward to meet the armies of the world.

The antichrist is destroyed
Daniel 7: 11 “I
watched then because of the sound of the [f]pompous words which the horn was speaking; I watched till
the beast was slain, and its body destroyed and given to the burning flame. 12 As
for the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away, yet their
lives were prolonged for a season and a time. 13 “I
was watching in the night visions, And behold, One like the
Son of Man, Coming with the clouds of heaven! He came to the Ancient of Days,
And they brought Him near before Him. 14 Then to Him
was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, That all peoples, nations,
and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an
everlasting dominion, Which shall not pass away, And His kingdom the
one Which shall not be destroyed.
Revelation 19:19 And I saw the beast, and
the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war
against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. 20 And
the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles
before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the
beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a
lake of fire burning with brimstone. 21 And the
remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword
proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.

Isaiah 14:12-17 How you have fallen from heaven, shining one, son of the
dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, who laid the nations low! 13 You
said in your heart, “I will ascend into heaven! I will exalt my throne above
the stars of God! I will sit on the mountain of assembly, in the far
north! 14 I will ascend above the heights of the
clouds! I will make myself like the Most High!” 15 Yet
you shall be brought down to Sheol,[l] to the depths of the pit. 16 Those
who see you will stare at you. They will ponder you, saying, “Is this the man
who made the earth to tremble, who shook kingdoms, 17 who
made the world like a wilderness, and overthrew its cities, who didn’t
release his prisoners to their home?”
Revelation 20: And I
saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and
a great chain in his hand. 2 And he laid hold on the
dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a
thousand years, 3 And cast him into the bottomless
pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the
nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that
he must be loosed a little season.

Genesis
49:9-10 World English Bible
9 Judah is a lion’s cub. From the prey, my son,
you have gone up. He stooped down, he crouched as a lion, as a lioness. Who
will rouse him up? 10 The scepter will not depart from
Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it
belongs. The obedience of the peoples will be to him.
Psalm
2: 4 He who sits in the heavens will laugh. The Lord[b] will have them in derision. 5 Then
he will speak to them in his anger, and terrify them in his wrath: 6 “Yet
I have set my King on my holy hill of Zion.” 7 I will
tell of the decree: Yahweh said to me, “You are my son. Today I have become
your father. 8 Ask of me, and I will give the nations
for your inheritance, the uttermost parts of the earth for your possession. 9 You
shall break them with a rod of iron. You shall dash them in pieces like a
potter’s vessel.”
Matthew 13: 29 But he said, ‘No, lest while you gather up the tares you
also uproot the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest, and
at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the
tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.” ’ ”
37 He answered and said to them: “He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man. 38 The field is the world, the good seeds are the
sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the
sons of the wicked one. 39 The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the
angels. 40 Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned
in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age. 41 The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that
offend, and those who practice lawlessness, 42 and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun
in the kingdom of their Father. He who
has ears to hear, let him hear!
Conclusion
of Battle of Armageddon
Daniel 2: 44 And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will
set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall
not be left to other people; it shall [n]break in pieces and [o]consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand
forever. 45 Inasmuch as you saw that the stone
was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it broke in pieces the
iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold—the great God has made
known to the king what will come to pass after this. The dream is certain,
and its interpretation is sure.”
Joel 3: 18 And it
will come to pass in that day That the mountains shall drip with
new wine, The hills shall flow with milk, And all the brooks of Judah shall
be flooded with water;
A fountain shall flow from the house of the Lord And water
the Valley of [h]Acacias. 19 “Egypt shall be a desolation,
And Edom a desolate wilderness, Because of violence against the
people of Judah, For they have shed innocent blood in their land. 20 But
Judah shall abide forever, And Jerusalem from generation to generation. 21 For
I will acquit them of the guilt of bloodshed, whom I had not acquitted;
For the Lord dwells in Zion.”
Obadiah 1:15-21 15 For
the day of Yahweh is near all the nations! As you have done, it will be done
to you. Your deeds will return upon your own head. 16 For
as you have drunk on my holy mountain, so will all the nations drink
continually. Yes, they will drink, swallow down, and will be as though they
had not been. 17 But in Mount Zion, there will be
those who escape, and it will be holy. The house of Jacob will possess their
possessions. 18 The house of Jacob will be a
fire, the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble. They
will burn among them, and devour them. There will not be any remaining to the
house of Esau.” Indeed, Yahweh has spoken.
19 Those of the South will possess the mountain of Esau, and those
of the lowland, the Philistines. They will possess the field of Ephraim, and
the field of Samaria. Benjamin will possess Gilead. 20 The
captives of this army of the children of Israel, who are among the
Canaanites, will possess even to Zarephath; and the captives of Jerusalem,
who are in Sepharad, will possess the cities of the Negev. 21 Saviors
will go up on Mount Zion to judge the mountains of Esau, and the kingdom will
be Yahweh’s.
Zechariah 14:9 9 Yahweh will be King over all the earth. In that day Yahweh
will be one, and his name one.
Malachi 4:1-4 “For, behold, the day comes,
it burns as a furnace; and all the proud, and all who work wickedness, will
be stubble; and the day that comes will burn them up,” says Yahweh of Armies,
“that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. 2 But
to you who fear my name shall the sun of righteousness arise with healing in
its wings. You will go out, and leap like calves of the stall. 3 You
shall tread down the wicked; for they will be ashes under the soles of your
feet in the day that

Ezekial 39:9 “Then
those who dwell in the cities of Israel will go out and set on fire and burn
the weapons, both the shields and bucklers, the bows and arrows, the [f]javelins and spears; and they will make fires with them for
seven years. 10 They will not take wood from the
field nor cut down any from the forests, because they will
make fires with the weapons; and they will plunder those who plundered
them, and pillage those who pillaged them,” says the Lord God.
11 “It will come to pass in that day that I will
give Gog a burial place there in Israel, the valley of those who pass by east
of the sea; and it will obstruct travelers, because there they will bury Gog
and all his multitude. Therefore they will call it the
Valley of [g]Hamon Gog. 12 For seven months the
house of Israel will be burying them, in order to cleanse the
land. 13 Indeed all the people of the land will
be burying, and they will gain renown for it on the day that I am
glorified,” says the Lord God. 14 “They
will set apart men regularly employed, with the help of [h]a search party, to pass through the land and bury those bodies
remaining on the ground, in order to cleanse it. At the end of seven
months they will make a search. 15 The search
party will pass through the land; and when anyone sees a
man’s bone, he shall [i]set up a marker by it, till the buriers have buried it in the
Valley of Hamon Gog. 16 The name
of the city will also be [j]Hamonah. Thus they shall cleanse the land.” ’
Israel Restored to the Land
Romans 11: 23 And they
also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be grafted in: for God is
able to graft them in again. 24 For if thou wert cut
out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert grafted contrary to
nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the
natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree? 25 For
I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye
should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel,
until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. 26 And
so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion
the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: 27 For
this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.
Isaiah 63 21 “I will set My glory among the nations; all the nations shall
see My judgment which I have executed, and My hand which I have laid on
them. 22 So the house of Israel shall know that
I am the Lord their God from that
day forward. 23 The Gentiles shall know that the
house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity; because they were
unfaithful to Me, therefore I hid My face from them. I gave them
into the hand of their enemies, and they all fell by the sword. 24 According
to their uncleanness and according to their transgressions I have dealt with
them, and hidden My face from them.” ’
25 “Therefore thus says the Lord God: ‘Now
I will bring back the captives of Jacob, and have mercy on the whole
house of Israel; and I will be jealous for My holy name— 26 after
they have borne their shame, and all their unfaithfulness in which they were
unfaithful to Me, when they dwelt safely in their own land
and no one made them afraid. 27 When
I have brought them back from the peoples and gathered them out of their
enemies’ lands, and I am hallowed in them in the sight of many
nations, 28 then they shall know that I am the Lord their
God, who sent them into captivity among the nations, but also brought them
back to their land, and left none of them [k]captive any longer. 29 And I will
not hide My face from them anymore; for I shall have poured out My Spirit
on the house of Israel,’ says the Lord God.”
Zephaniah 3:9 “For then
I will restore to the peoples a pure [e]language, That they all may call on the name of the Lord, To
serve Him with one accord. 10 From beyond the rivers
of Ethiopia My worshipers, The daughter of My dispersed ones, Shall bring My
offering. 11 In that day you shall not be shamed for
any of your deeds In which you transgress against Me; For then I will take
away from your midst Those who rejoice in your pride, And you shall no
longer be haughty In My holy mountain. 12 I will leave
in your midst A meek and humble people, And they shall trust in the name of
the Lord. 13 The remnant of Israel shall do
no unrighteousness And speak no lies, Nor shall a deceitful tongue be found
in their mouth; For they shall feed their flocks and
lie down, And no one shall make them afraid.” 14 Sing,
O daughter of Zion! Shout, O Israel! Be glad and rejoice with all your heart,
O daughter of Jerusalem! 15 The Lord has
taken away your judgments, He has cast out your enemy. The King of Israel,
the Lord, is in your midst; You shall [f]see disaster no more.
16 In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem: “Do not fear; Zion, let
not your hands be weak. 17 The Lord your
God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you
with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will
rejoice over you with singing.” 18 “I will gather
those who sorrow over the appointed assembly, Who are among you, To
whom its reproach is a burden. 19 Behold,
at that time I will deal with all who afflict you; I will save the lame,
And gather those who were driven out; I will appoint them for praise and fame
In every land where they were put to shame. 20 At
that time I will bring you back, Even at the time I gather you; For I
will give you [g]fame and praise Among all the peoples of the earth, When I
return your captives before your eyes,” Says the Lord.
Psalm 2:10 Now therefore be wise, you kings. Be
instructed, you judges of the earth. 11 Serve Yahweh
with fear, and rejoice with trembling. 12 Give sincere
homage to the Son,[c] lest he be angry, and you perish on the way, for his
wrath will soon be kindled. Blessed are all those who take refuge in him.
Psalm 110: 110 Yahweh says to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand,
until I make your enemies your footstool for your feet.” 2 Yahweh
will send out the rod of your strength out of Zion. Rule among your enemies. 3 Your
people offer themselves willingly in the day of your power, in holy array.
Out of the womb of the morning, you have the dew of your youth. 4 Yahweh
has sworn, and will not change his mind: “You are a priest forever in the
order of Melchizedek.” 5 The Lord is at your right
hand. He will crush kings in the day of his wrath. 6 He
will judge among the nations. He will heap up dead bodies. He will crush the
ruler of the whole earth. 7 He will drink of the brook
on the way; therefore he will lift up his head.
Millennium
Isaiah 32: Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes
shall rule in justice. 2 A man shall be as a hiding
place from the wind, and a covert from the storm, as streams of water in a
dry place, as the shade of a large rock in a weary land. 3 The
eyes of those who see will not be dim, and the ears of those who hear will
listen. 4 The heart of the rash will understand
knowledge, and the tongue of the stammerers will be ready to speak plainly. 5 The
fool will no longer be called noble, nor the scoundrel be highly respected. 6 For
the fool will speak folly, and his heart will work iniquity, to practice
profanity, and to utter error against Yahweh, to make empty the soul of the
hungry, and to cause the drink of the thirsty to fail.
Revelation 20:4 And I saw
thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw
the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the
word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image,
neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and
they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand
years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection:
on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and
of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
Acts
15:16 16 ‘After this I will return And will
rebuild the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down; I will rebuild its
ruins, And I will set it up;
Zechariah 14:8-11
8 It will happen in that day, that living waters will go out from
Jerusalem: half of them toward the eastern sea, and half of them toward the
western sea. It will be so in summer and in winter. 9 Yahweh
will be King over all the earth. In that day Yahweh will be one, and his name
one. 10 All the land will be made like the
Arabah, from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem; and she will be lifted up,
and will dwell in her place, from Benjamin’s gate to the place of the first
gate, to the corner gate, and from the tower of Hananel to the king’s wine
presses. 11 Men will dwell therein, and there
will be no more curse; but Jerusalem will dwell safely.
Zechariah 14:16 And it shall come to pass that everyone who is
left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from
year to year to worship the King, the Lord of
hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. 17 And
it shall be that whichever of the families of the earth do
not come up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of
hosts, on them there will be no rain. 18 If the
family of Egypt will not come up and enter in, they shall
have no rain; they shall receive the plague with
which the Lord strikes the nations who do not come up to keep the Feast
of Tabernacles. 19 This shall be the [i]punishment of Egypt and the punishment of all the nations that
do not come up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.
20 In that day “HOLINESS TO THE LORD” shall be engraved on
the bells of the horses. The pots in the Lord’s house
shall be like the bowls before the altar. 21 Yes, [j]every pot in Jerusalem and Judah shall be holiness to the Lord of
hosts. Everyone who sacrifices shall come and take them and cook in them. In
that day there shall no longer be a Canaanite in the house of
the Lord of hosts.
Psalm 68:29 29 Because
of your temple at Jerusalem, kings shall bring presents to you.
Psalm 98: 3 He has
remembered his loving kindness and his faithfulness toward the house of
Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
Isaiah 1: 26 I will
restore your judges as at the first, and your counselors as at the beginning.
Afterward you shall be called ‘The city of righteousness, a faithful town.’ 27 Zion
shall be redeemed with justice, and her converts with righteousness.
Isaiah 2: This is what Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and
Jerusalem. 2 It shall happen in the latter days, that
the mountain of Yahweh’s house shall be established on the top of the
mountains, and shall be raised above the hills; and all nations shall flow to
it. 3 Many peoples shall go and say, “Come, let’s go
up to the mountain of Yahweh, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will
teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths.” For the law shall go
out of Zion, and Yahweh’s word from Jerusalem. 4 He
will judge between the nations, and will decide concerning many peoples. They shall beat their swords into
plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation shall not lift up
sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
Isaiah 9: 6 For a child is born to us. A son is given to us; and the
government will be on his shoulders. His name will be called Wonderful
Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of
the increase of his government and of peace there shall be no end, on David’s
throne, and on his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with justice
and with righteousness from that time on, even forever. The zeal of Yahweh of
Armies will perform this.
Isaiah 10: 20 It will
come to pass in that day that the remnant of Israel, and those who have
escaped from the house of Jacob will no more again lean on him who struck
them, but shall lean on Yahweh, the Holy One of Israel, in truth. 21 A
remnant will return, even the remnant of Jacob, to the mighty God. 22 For
though your people, Israel, are like the sand of the sea, only a remnant of
them will return. A destruction is determined, overflowing with
righteousness.
Luke 1: 67 Now
his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied,
saying:
68 “Blessed is the Lord God of
Israel, For He has visited and redeemed His people, 69 And
has raised up a horn of salvation for us In the house of His servant David, 70 As
He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets, Who have been since
the world began, 71 That we should be saved from our
enemies And from the hand of all who hate us, 72 To perform
the mercy promised to our fathers And to remember His holy
covenant, 73 The oath which He swore to our father
Abraham: 74 To grant us that we, Being delivered from
the hand of our enemies, Might serve Him without fear, 75 In
holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our life.
Luke 22: 29 And I
appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me; 30 That
ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging
the twelve tribes of Israel.
Isaiah 30:
19 For the people will dwell in Zion at Jerusalem. You will weep no
more. He will surely be gracious to you at the voice of your cry. When he
hears you, he will answer you. 20 Though the Lord
may give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your
teachers won’t be hidden any more, but your eyes will see your
teachers; 21 and when you turn to the right hand,
and when you turn to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you,
saying, “This is the way. Walk in it.” 22 You
shall defile the overlaying of your engraved images of silver, and the
plating of your molten images of gold. You shall cast them away as an unclean
thing. You shall tell it, “Go away!”
23 He will give the rain for your seed, with which you will sow the
ground; and bread of the increase of the ground will be rich and plentiful.
In that day, your livestock will feed in large pastures. 24 The
oxen likewise and the young donkeys that till the ground will eat savory
feed, which has been winnowed with the shovel and with the fork. 25 There
will be brooks and streams of water on every lofty mountain and on every high
hill in the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall. 26 Moreover
the light of the moon will be like the light of the sun, and the light of the
sun will be seven times brighter, like the light of seven days, in the day
that Yahweh binds up the fracture of his people, and heals the wound they
were struck with.
Isaiah
35: The wilderness and the dry land will be glad. The desert will
rejoice and blossom like a rose. 2 It will blossom
abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing. Lebanon’s glory will be
given to it, the excellence of Carmel and Sharon. They will see Yahweh’s
glory, the excellence of our God. 3 Strengthen the
weak hands, and make the feeble knees firm. 4 Tell
those who have a fearful heart, “Be strong! Don’t be afraid!
Behold, your God will come with vengeance, God’s retribution. He
will come and save you. 5 Then the eyes of the blind
will be opened, and the ears of the deaf will be unstopped. 6 Then
the lame man will leap like a deer, and the tongue of the mute will sing; for
waters will break out in the wilderness, and streams in the desert. 7 The
burning sand will become a pool, and the thirsty ground springs of water.
Grass with reeds and rushes will be in the habitation of jackals, where they
lay. 8 A highway will be there, a road, and it will be
called “The Holy Way”. The unclean shall not pass over it, but it will be for
those who walk in the Way. Wicked fools shall not go there. 9 No
lion will be there, nor will any ravenous animal go up on it. They will not
be found there; but the redeemed will walk there. 10 Then
Yahweh’s ransomed ones will return, and come with singing to Zion; and
everlasting joy will be on their heads. They will obtain gladness and joy,
and sorrow and sighing will flee away.”
Isaiah
66: 18 “For
I know their works and their thoughts. It shall be that
I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come and see My
glory. 19 I will set a sign among them; and those
among them who escape I will send to the nations: to Tarshish
and [c]Pul
and Lud, who draw the bow, and Tubal and Javan, to the
coastlands afar off who have not heard My fame nor seen My glory. And
they shall declare My glory among the Gentiles. 20 Then
they shall bring all your brethren for an offering to the Lord out of all nations, on
horses and in chariots and in litters, on mules and on camels, to My holy
mountain Jerusalem,” says the Lord,
“as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house
of the Lord. 21 And
I will also take some of for priests and Levites,” says
the Lord. 22 “For
as the new heavens and the new earth Which I will make shall remain
before Me,” says the Lord,
“So shall your descendants and your name remain.
23 And it shall come to pass That from
one New Moon to another, And from one Sabbath to another, All flesh shall
come to worship before Me,” says the Lord.
24 “And they shall go forth and look Upon the corpses
of the men Who have transgressed against Me. For their worm does not
die, And their fire is not quenched. They shall be an abhorrence to all
flesh.”
Luke 1: 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and
bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. 32 He will be
great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God
will give Him the throne of His father David. 33 And
He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will
be no end.”
Luke 13: 24 “Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be
able. 25 When once the Master of the house has risen up
and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside
and knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord,
Lord, open for us,’ and He will answer and say to you, ‘I do not know you, where you are from,’ 26 then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank
in Your presence, and You taught in our streets.’ 27 But He will say, ‘I tell you I do not know you,
where you are from. Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.’ 28 There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the
prophets in the kingdom of God, and yourselves thrust out. 29 They will come from the east and the west, from
the north and the south, and sit down in the kingdom of God. 30 And indeed there are last who will be first,
and there are first who will be last.”
Acts 15:14 Simeon
hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of
them a people for his name.
15 And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written,
16 After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of
David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I
will set it up:
17 That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the
Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these
things.
1 Corinthians 6: 2 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and
if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest
matters?
Hebrews 1:
8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever
and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
Genesis 3:17-19 17 To Adam he said, “Because you have listened to your wife’s
voice, and have eaten from the tree, about which I commanded you, saying,
‘You shall not eat of it,’ the ground is cursed for your sake. You will eat
from it with much labor all the days of your life. 18 It will
yield thorns and thistles to you; and you will eat the herb of the field.
19 You will
eat bread by the sweat of your face until you return to the ground, for you
were taken out of it. For you are dust, and you shall return to dust.”
Psalm 72: God,
give the king your justice; your righteousness to the royal son. 2 He
will judge your people with righteousness, and your poor with justice. 3 The
mountains shall bring prosperity to the people. The hills bring the fruit of
righteousness. 4 He will judge the poor of the people.
He will save the children of the needy, and will break the oppressor in
pieces. 5 They shall fear you while the sun endures;
and as long as the moon, throughout all generations. 6 He
will come down like rain on the mown grass, as showers that water the earth. 7 In
his days, the righteous shall flourish, and abundance of peace, until the
moon is no more. 8 He shall have dominion also from
sea to sea, from the River to the ends of the earth. 9 Those
who dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him. His enemies shall lick the
dust.
Isaiah 19: 16 In that
day the Egyptians will be like women. They will tremble and fear because of
the shaking of Yahweh of Armies’s hand, which he shakes over them. 17 The
land of Judah will become a terror to Egypt. Everyone to whom mention is made
of it will be afraid, because of the plans of Yahweh of Armies, which he
determines against it. 18 In that day, there will
be five cities in the land of Egypt that speak the language of Canaan, and
swear to Yahweh of Armies. One will be called “The city of destruction.” 19 In
that day, there will be an altar to Yahweh in the middle of the land of
Egypt, and a pillar to Yahweh at its border. 20 It
will be for a sign and for a witness to Yahweh of Armies in the land of
Egypt; for they will cry to Yahweh because of oppressors, and he will send
them a savior and a defender, and he will deliver them. 21 Yahweh
will be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians will know Yahweh in that day. Yes,
they will worship with sacrifice and offering, and will vow a vow to Yahweh,
and will perform it. 22 Yahweh will strike Egypt,
striking and healing. They will return to Yahweh, and he will be entreated by
them, and will heal them. 23 In that day there will be
a highway out of Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian shall come into Egypt,
and the Egyptian into Assyria; and the Egyptians will worship with the
Assyrians. 24 In that day, Israel will be the third
with Egypt and with Assyria, a blessing within the earth; 25 because
Yahweh of Armies has blessed them, saying, “Blessed be Egypt my people,
Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel my inheritance.”
Revelation 20:4 I saw thrones,
and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them. I saw the souls of
those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus, and for the word of
God, and such as didn’t worship the beast nor his image, and didn’t receive
the mark on their forehead and on their hand. They lived and reigned with
Christ for a thousand years.
Jeremiah
30:1-17 The word that came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying, 2 “Yahweh,
the God of Israel, says, ‘Write all the words that I have spoken to you in a
book. 3 For, behold, the days come,’ says Yahweh,
‘that I will reverse the captivity of my people Israel and Judah,’ says
Yahweh. ‘I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their
fathers, and they will possess it.’” 4 These are the
words that Yahweh spoke concerning Israel and concerning Judah. 5 For
Yahweh says: “We have heard a voice of trembling; a voice of fear, and not of
peace. Ask now, and see whether a man travails with child. Why do I see every
man with his hands on his waist, as a woman in travail, and all faces are
turned pale? 7 Alas!
for that day is great, so that none is like it. It is even the time of
Jacob’s trouble; but he will be saved out of it. 8 It
will come to pass in that day, says Yahweh of Armies, that I will break his
yoke from off your neck, and will burst your bonds. Strangers will no more
make them their bondservants; 9 but they will serve
Yahweh their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up to them. 10 Therefore
don’t be afraid, O Jacob my servant, says Yahweh. Don’t be dismayed, Israel.
For, behold, I will save you from afar, and save your offspring from the land
of their captivity. Jacob will return, and will be quiet and at ease. No one
will make him afraid. 11 For I am with you, says
Yahweh, to save you; for I will make a full end of all the nations where I
have scattered you, but I will not make a full end of you; but I will correct
you in measure, and will in no way leave you unpunished.” 12 For
Yahweh says, “Your hurt is incurable. Your wound is grievous. 13 There
is no one to plead your cause, that you may be bound up. You have no healing
medicines. 14 All your lovers have forgotten you. They
don’t seek you. For I have wounded you with the wound of an enemy, with the
chastisement of a cruel one, for the greatness of your iniquity, because your
sins were increased. 15 Why do you cry over your
injury? Your pain is incurable. For the greatness of your iniquity, because
your sins have increased, I have done these things to you. 16 Therefore
all those who devour you will be devoured. All your adversaries, everyone of
them, will go into captivity. Those who plunder you will be plunder. I will
make all who prey on you become prey. 17 For I will
restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds,” says Yahweh;
“because they have called you an outcast,
saying, ‘It is Zion, whom no man seeks after.’”
Isaiah 27:6 In days to come, Jacob will
take root. Israel will blossom and bud. They will fill the surface of the
world with fruit.
Israel restored
Isaiah 25: 6 In this mountain, Yahweh of Armies will make all peoples a feast
of choice meat,[a] a feast of choice wines, of choice meat full of marrow, of
well refined choice wines. 7 He will destroy in
this mountain the surface of the covering that covers all peoples, and the
veil that is spread over all nations. 8 He has
swallowed up death forever! The Lord Yahweh will wipe away tears from off all
faces. He will take the reproach of his people away from off all the earth,
for Yahweh has spoken it.
9 It shall be said in that day, “Behold, this is our God! We have
waited for him, and he will save us! This is Yahweh! We have waited for him.
We will be glad and rejoice in his salvation!” 10 For
Yahweh’s hand will rest in this mountain.
Isaiah 26: In that
day, this song will be sung in the land of Judah: “We have a strong city. God
appoints salvation for walls and bulwarks. 2 Open the
gates, that the righteous nation may enter: the one which keeps faith. 3 You
will keep whoever’s mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in
you. 4 Trust in Yahweh forever; for in Yah, Yahweh, is
an everlasting Rock. 5 For he has brought down those
who dwell on high, the lofty city. He lays it low. He lays it low even to the
ground. He brings it even to the dust. 6 The foot
shall tread it down, even the feet of the poor and the steps of the needy.” 7 The
way of the just is uprightness. You who are upright make the path of the
righteous level.
Isaiah
27: 6 In days to come, Jacob will take root. Israel will blossom
and bud. They will fill the surface of the world with fruit.
Isaiah 29: 17 Isn’t it yet a very little while, and Lebanon will be turned
into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field will be regarded as a
forest? 18 In that day, the deaf will hear the
words of the book, and the eyes of the blind will see out of obscurity and
out of darkness. 19 The humble also will increase
their joy in Yahweh, and the poor among men will rejoice in the Holy One of
Israel. 20 For the ruthless is brought to
nothing, and the scoffer ceases, and all those who are alert to do evil are
cut off— 21 who cause a person to be indicted by
a word, and lay a snare for one who reproves in the gate, and who deprive the
innocent of justice with false testimony.
22 Therefore Yahweh, who redeemed Abraham, says concerning the
house of Jacob: “Jacob shall no longer be ashamed, neither shall his face
grow pale. 23 But when he sees his children, the
work of my hands, in the middle of him, they will sanctify my name. Yes, they
will sanctify the Holy One of Jacob, and will stand in awe of the God of
Israel. 24 They also who err in spirit will come
to understanding, and those who grumble will receive instruction.”
Isaiah 51: 11 Those ransomed by Yahweh will return, and come with singing
to Zion. Everlasting joy shall be on their heads. They will obtain gladness
and joy. Sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
Isaiah 52: 10 Yahweh has made his holy arm bare in the eyes of all the
nations. All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
Isaiah 60: “Arise, shine; for your light has come, and Yahweh’s glory has
risen on you.
2 For, behold, darkness will cover the earth, and
thick darkness the peoples; but Yahweh will arise on you, and his glory shall
be seen on you. 3 Nations will come to your light, and
kings to the brightness of your rising. 4 “Lift up
your eyes all around, and see: they all gather themselves together. They come
to you. Your sons will come from far away, and your daughters will be carried
in arms. 5 Then you shall see and be radiant, and your
heart will thrill and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea will be
turned to you. The wealth of the nations will come to you. 6 A
multitude of camels will cover you, the dromedaries of Midian and Ephah. All
from Sheba will come. They will bring gold and frankincense, and will
proclaim the praises of Yahweh. 7 All the flocks of
Kedar will be gathered together to you. The rams of Nebaioth will serve you.
They will be accepted as offerings on my altar; and I will beautify my
glorious house. 8 “Who are these who fly as a cloud,
and as the doves to their windows? 9 Surely the
islands will wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring your sons
from far away, their silver and their gold with them, for the name of Yahweh
your God, and for the Holy One of Israel, because he has glorified you. 10 “Foreigners
will build up your walls, and their kings will serve you: for in my wrath I
struck you, but in my favor I have had mercy on you. 11 Your
gates also shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day nor night,
that men may bring to you the wealth of the nations, and their kings led
captive. 12 For that nation and kingdom that will not
serve you shall perish; yes, those nations shall be utterly wasted. 13 “The
glory of Lebanon shall come to you, the cypress tree, the pine, and the box
tree together, to beautify the place
of my sanctuary; and I will make the place of my feet glorious.
14 The sons of those who afflicted you will come
bowing to you; and all those who despised you will bow themselves down at the
soles of your feet. They will call you Yahweh’s City, the Zion of the Holy
One of Israel. 15 “Whereas you have been forsaken and
hated, so that no one passed through you, I will make you an eternal
excellency, a joy of many generations. 16 You
will also drink the milk of the nations, and will nurse from royal breasts.
Then you will know that I, Yahweh, am your Savior, your Redeemer, the Mighty
One of Jacob. 17 For bronze I will bring gold; for
iron I will bring silver; for wood, bronze, and for stones, iron. I will also
make peace your governor, and righteousness your ruler. 18 Violence
shall no more be heard in your land,
nor desolation or destruction within your borders; but you will call
your walls Salvation, and your gates Praise.
Isaiah 61: 2 to
proclaim the year of Yahweh’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to
comfort all who mourn, 3 to provide for those who
mourn in Zion, to give to them a garland for ashes, the oil of joy for
mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness, that they may be
called trees of righteousness, the planting of Yahweh, that he may be
glorified. 4 They will rebuild the old ruins. They
will raise up the former devastated
places. They will repair the ruined cities that have been devastated for many
generations. 5 Strangers will stand and feed your
flocks. Foreigners will work your fields and your vineyards. 6 But
you will be called Yahweh’s priests. Men will call you the servants of our
God. You will eat the wealth of the nations. You will boast in their glory.
7 Instead of your shame you will have double. Instead
of dishonor, they will rejoice in their portion. Therefore in their land they
will possess double. Everlasting joy will be to them. 8 “For
I, Yahweh, love justice. I hate robbery and iniquity. I will give them their
reward in truth and I will make an everlasting covenant with them. 9 Their
offspring will be known among the nations, and their offspring among the
peoples. All who see them will acknowledge them, that they are the offspring
which Yahweh has blessed.” 10 I will greatly rejoice
in Yahweh! My soul will be joyful in my God, for he has clothed me with the
garments of salvation. He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a
bridegroom decks himself with a garland and as a bride adorns herself with
her jewels.
11 For as the earth produces its bud, and as the
garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring up, so the
Lord Yahweh will cause righteousness and praise to spring up before all the
nations.
Isaiah 66: 10 “Rejoice
with Jerusalem, And be glad with her, all you who love her; Rejoice for joy
with her, all you who mourn for her; 11 That you may
feed and be satisfied With the consolation of her bosom, That you may drink
deeply and be delighted With the abundance of her glory.” 12 For
thus says the Lord:
“Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, And the glory of the
Gentiles like a flowing stream. Then you shall feed; On her sides
shall you be carried, And be dandled on her knees. 13 As
one whom his mother comforts, So I will comfort you; And you shall be
comforted in Jerusalem.” 14 When you see this, your
heart shall rejoice, And your bones shall flourish like grass;
The hand of the Lord shall
be known to His servants, And His indignation to His
enemies.
Jeremiah 3: 17 “At that time Jerusalem shall be called The Throne of the Lord, and all
the nations shall be gathered to it, to the name of the Lord, to
Jerusalem. No more shall they follow[c] the dictates of their evil hearts. 18 “In
those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and
they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land
that I have given as an inheritance to your fathers.
Jeremiah 30: The word
that came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying, 2 “Thus
speaks the Lord God of Israel, saying: ‘Write in a book for yourself all the
words that I have spoken to you. 3 For behold,
the days are coming,’ says the Lord, ‘that I will bring
back from captivity My people Israel and Judah,’ says the Lord. ‘And
I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and
they shall possess it.’ ” 4 Now these are the
words that the Lord spoke concerning
Israel and Judah. 5 “For thus says the Lord: ‘We
have heard a voice of trembling, Of [a]fear, and not of peace. 6 Ask now, and
see, Whether a [b]man is ever in [c]labor with child? So why do I see every man with his
hands on his loins Like a woman in labor, And all faces turned pale? 7 Alas!
For that day is great, So that none is like
it; And it is the time of Jacob’s trouble, But he shall be
saved out of it. 8 ‘For it shall come to pass in that
day,’ Says the Lord of hosts, ‘That I
will break his yoke from your neck, And will burst your bonds; Foreigners
shall no more enslave them. 9 But they shall serve
the Lord their God, And David their king, Whom I
will raise up for them. 10 ‘Therefore do not
fear, O My servant Jacob,’ says the Lord,
‘Nor be dismayed, O Israel; For behold, I will save you from
afar, And your seed from the land of their captivity. Jacob shall
return, have rest and be quiet, And no one shall make him afraid.
11 For I am with you,’ says
the Lord, ‘to save you; Though I make a full end of all nations where I
have scattered you, Yet I will not make a complete end of you.
But I will correct you in justice, And will not let you go
altogether unpunished.’
‘Behold,
I will bring back the captivity of Jacob’s tents, And have mercy on his
dwelling places; The city shall be built upon its own [d]mound, And the palace shall remain according to its own plan. 19 Then out
of them shall proceed thanksgiving And the voice of those who make merry; I
will multiply them, and they shall not diminish; I will also glorify them,
and they shall not be small.
22 ‘You shall be My people, And I will be your God.’ ” 23 Behold,
the whirlwind of the Lord
Goes forth with fury, A [e]continuing whirlwind; It will fall violently on the head of the
wicked. 24 The fierce anger of the Lord will
not return until He has done it, And until He has performed the intents of
His heart. In the latter days you will consider it.
Jeremiah 31: 3 The Lord has
appeared [a]of old to me, saying: “Yes, I have loved you
with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I
have drawn you. 4 Again I will build you,
and you shall be rebuilt, O virgin of Israel! You shall again be adorned with
your tambourines, And shall go forth in the dances of those who rejoice.
5 You shall yet plant vines on the mountains of
Samaria; The planters shall plant and [b]eat them as ordinary food. 6 For
there shall be a day When the watchmen will cry on Mount Ephraim,
‘Arise, and let us go up to Zion, To the Lord our
God.’ ” 7 For thus says the Lord: “Sing
with gladness for Jacob, And shout among the chief of the nations; Proclaim,
give praise, and say, ‘O Lord, save Your people, The
remnant of Israel!’ 8 Behold, I will bring them from the north country,
And gather them from the ends of the earth, Among them the
blind and the lame, The woman with child And the one who labors with
child, together; A great throng shall
return there. 9 They shall come with weeping, And with
supplications I will lead them. I will cause them to walk by the rivers
of waters, In a straight way in which they shall not stumble; For I am a
Father to Israel, And Ephraim is My firstborn. 10 “Hear
the word of the Lord, O nations, And
declare it in the [c]isles afar off, and say, ‘He who scattered Israel will
gather him, And keep him as a shepherd does his flock.’ 11 For the Lord has
redeemed Jacob, And ransomed him from the hand of one stronger than he. 12 Therefore
they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, Streaming to the
goodness of the Lord— For wheat and new wine
and oil, For the young of the flock and the herd; Their souls shall be like
a well-watered garden, And they shall sorrow no more at all. 13 “Then
shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, And the young men and the old,
together; For I will turn their mourning to joy, Will comfort them, And make
them rejoice rather than sorrow. 14 I will [d]satiate the soul of the priests with abundance, And My people
shall be satisfied with My goodness, says the Lord.”
Jeremiah 31: 31 “Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the
house of Israel and with the house of Judah— 32 not
according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I
took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant
which they broke, [h]though I was a husband to them, says the Lord. 33 But this is the
covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says
the Lord: I
will put My law in their minds, and write it on their [i]hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My
people. 34 No more shall every man teach his
neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they all shall know Me, from the
least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and
their sin I will remember no more.”
36 “If those ordinances depart From before
Me, says the Lord, Then the
seed of Israel shall also cease From being a nation before Me forever.” 37 Thus
says the Lord: “If heaven
above can be measured, And the foundations of the earth searched out beneath,
I will also cast off all the seed of Israel For all that they have done,
says the Lord. 38 “Behold,
the days are coming, says the Lord,
that the city shall be built for the Lord from
the Tower of Hananel to the Corner Gate. 39 The
surveyor’s line shall again extend straight forward over the hill Gareb; then
it shall turn toward Goath. 40 And the whole
valley of the dead bodies and of the ashes, and all the fields as far as the
Brook Kidron, to the corner of the Horse Gate toward the east, shall
be holy to the Lord.
It shall not be plucked up or thrown down anymore forever.”
Jeremiah 32: 37 Behold, I will gather them out of all countries where I
have driven them in My anger, in My fury, and in great wrath; I will bring
them back to this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely. 38 They
shall be My people, and I will be their God; 39 then
I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear Me forever,
for the good of them and their children after them. 40 And I
will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from
doing them good; but I will put My fear in their hearts so that they
will not depart from Me. 41 Yes, I will
rejoice over them to do them good, and I will [f]assuredly plant them in this land, with all My heart and with
all My soul.’
42 “For thus says the Lord: ‘Just as I have
brought all this great calamity on this people, so I will bring on them all
the good that I have promised them. 43 And fields
will be bought in this land of which you say, “It is desolate,
without man or beast; it has been given into the hand of the
Chaldeans.” 44 Men will buy fields for money,
sign deeds and seal them, and take witnesses, in the
land of Benjamin, in the places around Jerusalem, in the cities of Judah, in
the cities of the mountains, in the cities of the [g]lowland, and in the cities of the [h]South; for I will cause their captives to return,’ says
the Lord.”
Jeremiah 33: 7 And I
will cause the captives of Judah and the captives of Israel to return, and
will rebuild those places as at the first. 8 I
will cleanse them from all their iniquity by which they have sinned
against Me, and I will pardon all their iniquities by which they have sinned
and by which they have transgressed against Me. 9 Then
it shall be to Me a name of joy, a praise, and an honor before all nations of
the earth, who shall hear all the good that I do to them; they
shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and all the prosperity that
I provide for it.’ 10 “Thus says the Lord: ‘Again
there shall be heard in this place—of which you say, “It is desolate,
without man and without beast”—in the cities of Judah, in the streets of
Jerusalem that are desolate, without man and without inhabitant and without
beast, 11 the voice of joy and the voice of
gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voice
of those who will say: “Praise
the Lord of hosts, For the Lord is good,
For His mercy endures forever”— and of
those who will bring the sacrifice of praise into the
house of the Lord. For I will cause the
captives of the land to return as at the first,’ says the Lord. 12 “Thus
says the Lord of hosts: ‘In this place which is desolate, without
man and without beast, and in all its cities, there shall again be a dwelling
place of shepherds causing their flocks to lie down. 13 In
the cities of the mountains, in the cities of the lowland, in the cities of
the South, in the land of Benjamin, in the places around Jerusalem, and in
the cities of Judah, the flocks shall again pass under the hands of him
who counts them,’ says the Lord. 14 ‘Behold,
the days are coming,’ says the Lord, ‘that I will perform
that good thing which I have promised to the house of Israel and to the house
of Judah: 15 ‘In those days and at that time I will
cause to grow up to David A Branch of righteousness; He shall execute
judgment and righteousness in the earth. 16 In those
days Judah will be saved, And Jerusalem will dwell safely. And this is
the name by which she will be called: [c]THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.’ 17 “For thus
says the Lord: ‘David shall never lack a man to sit on the throne of the
house of Israel; 18 nor shall the priests,
the Levites, lack a man to offer burnt offerings before Me, to [d]kindle grain offerings, and to sacrifice continually.’ ” 19 And
the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah,
saying, 20 “Thus says the Lord: ‘If you
can break My covenant with the day and My covenant with the night, so that
there will not be day and night in their season, 21 then My
covenant may also be broken with David My servant, so that he shall not have
a son to reign on his throne, and with the Levites, the priests, My
ministers. 22 As the host of heaven cannot
be numbered, nor the sand of the sea measured, so will I multiply the
descendants of David My servant and the Levites who minister to Me.’ ” 23 Moreover
the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah,
saying, 24 “Have you not considered what these
people have spoken, saying, ‘The two families which the Lord has
chosen, He has also cast them off’? Thus they have despised My people,
as if they should no more be a nation before them. 25 “Thus
says the Lord: ‘If My covenant is not with day and
night, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of
heaven and earth, 26 then I will cast away
the descendants of Jacob and David My servant, so that I
will not take any of his descendants to be rulers
over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. For I will cause their
captives to return, and will have mercy on them.’ ”
Jeremiah 46: 27 “But do not fear, O My servant Jacob, And do not be
dismayed, O Israel! For behold, I will save you from afar, And your
offspring from the land of their captivity; Jacob shall return, have rest and
be at ease;
No one shall make him afraid.
28 Do not fear, O Jacob My servant,” says the Lord, “For I am with
you; For I will make a complete end of all the nations To which I have driven
you, But I will not make a complete end of you.
I will rightly correct
you, For I will not leave you wholly unpunished.”
Ezekial 20:
33 “As I live,” says
the Lord God, “surely with
a mighty hand, with an outstretched arm, and with fury poured out, I
will rule over you. 34 I will bring you out from
the peoples and gather you out of the countries where you are scattered, with
a mighty hand, with an outstretched arm, and with fury poured out. 35 And
I will bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and there I will
plead My case with you face to face. 36 Just as I
pleaded My case with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so
I will plead My case with you,” says the Lord God.
37 “I will make you pass under the rod, and I will bring you
into the bond of the covenant; 38 I will
purge the rebels from among you, and those who transgress against Me; I will
bring them out of the country where they dwell, but they shall not enter
the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord.
Ezekial 34: 11 ‘For thus says the Lord God: “Indeed I Myself will search for My sheep and
seek them out. 12 As a shepherd seeks out his
flock on the day he is among his scattered sheep, so will I seek out My sheep
and deliver them from all the places where they were scattered on a
cloudy and dark day. 13 And I will bring
them out from the peoples and gather them from the countries, and will bring
them to their own land; I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, [b]in the valleys and in all the inhabited places of the
country. 14 I will feed them in good pasture, and
their fold shall be on the high mountains of Israel. There they shall
lie down in a good fold and feed in rich pasture on the mountains of
Israel. 15 I will feed My flock, and I will make
them lie down,” says the Lord God. 16 “I will seek what was lost
and bring back what was driven away, bind up the broken and strengthen what
was sick; but I will destroy the fat and the strong, and feed
them in judgment.” 20 ‘Therefore thus says the Lord God to
them: “Behold, I Myself will judge between the fat and the lean
sheep. 21 Because you have pushed with side and
shoulder, butted all the weak ones with your horns, and scattered them
abroad, 22 therefore I will save My flock, and
they shall no longer be a prey; and I will judge between sheep and
sheep. 23 I will establish one shepherd over
them, and he shall feed them—My servant David. He shall feed them and be
their shepherd. 24 And I, the Lord, will
be their God, and My servant David a prince among them; I, the Lord, have
spoken. 25 “I will make a covenant of peace with them,
and cause wild beasts to cease from the land; and they will dwell
safely in the wilderness and sleep in the woods. 26 I
will make them and the places all around My hill a blessing; and I
will cause showers to come down in their season; there shall
be showers of blessing. 27 Then the
trees of the field shall yield their fruit, and the earth shall yield her
increase. They shall be safe in their land; and they shall know that I am the Lord, when
I have broken the bands of their yoke and delivered them from the hand
of those who enslaved them. 28 And they
shall no longer be a prey for the nations, nor shall beasts of the land
devour them; but they shall dwell safely, and no one shall make them afraid. 29 I
will raise up for them a garden[d] of renown, and they shall no longer be consumed with
hunger in the land, nor bear the shame of the Gentiles anymore. 30 Thus
they shall know that I, the Lord their God, am with
them, and they, the house of Israel, are My people,” says
the Lord God.’ 31 “You are My flock, the flock
of My pasture; you are men, and I am your
God,” says the Lord God.
Ezekial 36: 22 “Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “I do
not do this for your sake, O house of Israel, but for
My holy name’s sake, which you have profaned among the nations wherever you
went. 23 And I will sanctify My great name, which
has been profaned among the nations, which you have profaned in their midst;
and the nations shall know that I am the Lord,” says
the Lord God, “when I am hallowed in you before their eyes. 24 For I
will take you from among the nations, gather you out of all countries, and
bring you into your own land. 25 Then I will
sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse
you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. 26 I
will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take
the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 I
will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and
you will keep My judgments and do them. 28 Then
you shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; you shall be My
people, and I will be your God. 29 I
will deliver you from all your uncleannesses. I will call for the
grain and multiply it, and bring no famine upon you. 30 And
I will multiply the fruit of your trees and the increase of your fields, so
that you need never again bear the reproach of famine among the
nations. 31 Then you will remember your evil
ways and your deeds that were not good; and
you will [e]loathe yourselves in your own sight, for your iniquities and
your abominations. 32 Not for your sake do I
do this,” says the Lord God, “let it
be known to you. Be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of
Israel!” 33 ‘Thus says the Lord God: “On the
day that I cleanse you from all your iniquities, I will also enable you to
dwell in the cities, and the ruins shall be rebuilt. 34 The
desolate land shall be tilled instead of lying desolate in the sight of all
who pass by. 35 So they will say, ‘This land that
was desolate has become like the garden of Eden; and the wasted,
desolate, and ruined cities are now fortified and inhabited.’ 36 Then
the nations which are left all around you shall know that I, the Lord, have
rebuilt the ruined places and planted what was
desolate. I, the Lord, have spoken it, and
I will do it.” 37 ‘Thus says the
Lord God: “I will also let the house of Israel inquire of Me to do
this for them: I will increase their men like a flock. 38 Like
a [f]flock offered as holy sacrifices, like
the flock at Jerusalem on its [g]feast days, so shall the ruined cities be filled with flocks of
men. Then they shall know that I am the Lord.” ’ ”
Ezekial 40-48 is a
difficult section of Scripture to interpret.
I will not here try to elaborate.
If you want to consider an interesting study, consider reading these
chapters as literally fulfilled in the millennium. They include a temple, sacrifices, a
restored Jewish priesthood, and they include the perimeters of the restored
Israel. I hope it will suffice to make
this statement that I got from an article by Dr. John C. Whitcomb.
God
will fulfill His covenant promises to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. God's
"chosen people" will enjoy their "promised
land" some day, after they have experienced national
regeneration (Jer. 31:31-34; Rom. 11:25-26). Not just for the
Church, but also for Israel, "the gifts and the calling of God are
irrevocable" (Rom. 11:29).
Following
the map of the boundaries of the future nation of Israel in chapter 38, is
multiple times larger than present day Israel, taking in parts of Turkey,
Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq.
Hosea 2: 18 In that day I will make a covenant for them With the beasts
of the field, With the birds of the air, And with the
creeping things of the ground. Bow and sword of battle I will shatter
from the earth, To make them lie down safely. 19 “I
will betroth you to Me forever; Yes, I will betroth you to Me In
righteousness and justice, In lovingkindness and mercy;
20 I will
betroth you to Me in faithfulness, And you shall know the Lord. 21 “It
shall come to pass in that day That I will answer,” says
the Lord; “I will answer the heavens, And they shall answer the earth. 22 The
earth shall answer With grain, With new wine, And with oil; They shall
answer [j]Jezreel. 23 Then I will sow her for
Myself in the earth, And I will have mercy on her who had [k]not obtained mercy; Then I will say to those who
were [l]not My people, ‘You are [m]My people!’ And they shall say, ‘You are my God!’ ”
Hosea 3: 4 For the children of Israel shall abide many
days without king or prince, without sacrifice or sacred pillar,
without ephod or teraphim. 5 Afterward
the children of Israel shall return and seek the Lord their God and David their king. They
shall fear the Lord and His goodness in the latter days.
Hosea 5: 15 I will return again to My place Till they [d]acknowledge their offense. Then they will seek My face; In
their affliction they will earnestly seek Me.”
Hosea 14: 4 “I will heal their backsliding, I
will love them freely, For My anger has turned away from him. 5 I
will be like the dew to Israel; He shall [b]grow like the lily, And [c]lengthen his roots like Lebanon. 6 His
branches shall [d]spread; His beauty shall be like an olive tree,
And his fragrance like Lebanon. 7 Those who dwell
under his shadow shall return; They shall be revived like grain,
And [e]grow like a vine. Their [f]scent shall be like the wine of Lebanon. Amos 9: 8 “Behold, the
eyes of the Lord God are on
the sinful kingdom, And I will destroy it from the face of the earth;
Yet I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob,” Says the Lord. 9 “For
surely I will command, And will [g]sift the house of Israel among all nations, As grain is
sifted in a sieve; Yet not the smallest [h]grain shall fall to the ground. 10 All
the sinners of My people shall die by the sword, Who say, ‘The calamity shall
not overtake nor confront us.’ 11 “On that day I
will raise up The [i]tabernacle of David, which has fallen down, And [j]repair its damages; I will raise up its ruins, And rebuild it as
in the days of old;
12 That they
may possess the remnant of Edom,[k] And all the Gentiles who are called by My name,” Says the Lord who
does this thing. 13 “Behold, the days are
coming,” says the Lord, “When the plowman shall
overtake the reaper, And the treader of grapes him who sows seed; The
mountains shall drip with sweet wine, And all the hills shall flow with
it.
14 I will
bring back the captives of My people Israel; They shall build the waste
cities and inhabit them; They shall plant vineyards and drink
wine from them; They shall also make gardens and eat fruit from them. 15 I
will plant them in their land, And no longer shall they be pulled up From the
land I have given them,” Says the Lord your God.
Obadiah 1: 15 “For the day of the Lord upon
all the nations is near; As you have done, it shall be done
to you; Your [g]reprisal shall return upon your own head. 16 For
as you drank on My holy mountain, So shall all the nations drink
continually; Yes, they shall drink, and swallow, And they shall be as though
they had never been. 17 “But on Mount Zion
there shall be [h]deliverance, And there shall be holiness; The house of Jacob
shall possess their possessions. 18 The house of Jacob
shall be a fire, And the house of Joseph a flame; But the house of
Esau shall be stubble; They shall kindle them and devour
them, And no survivor shall remain of the house of Esau,”
For the Lord has spoken. 19 The [i]South shall possess the mountains of Esau, And the Lowland
shall possess Philistia. They shall possess the fields of Ephraim And the
fields of Samaria. Benjamin shall possess Gilead. 20 And
the captives of this host of the children of Israel Shall possess the land of
the Canaanites As far as Zarephath. The captives of Jerusalem who are in
Sepharad Shall possess the cities of the [j]South.
21 Then saviors[k] shall come to Mount Zion To judge the mountains of Esau,
And the kingdom shall be the Lord’s.
Ezek37:15 Again the word of the Lord came to me,
saying, 16 “As for you, son of man, take a
stick for yourself and write on it: ‘For Judah and for the children of
Israel, his companions.’ Then take another stick and write on it, ‘For
Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel,
his companions.’ 17 Then join them one to
another for yourself into one stick, and they will become one in your hand. 18 “And
when the children of your people speak to you, saying, ‘Will you not
show us what you mean by these?’— 19 say
to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Surely I will
take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of
Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel, his companions; and I will join them with
it, with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they will be one in
My hand.” ’ 20 And the sticks on which you write
will be in your hand before their eyes. 21 “Then
say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Surely I will take
the children of Israel from among the nations, wherever they have gone, and
will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land; 22 and I
will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel;
and one king shall be king over them all; they shall no longer be two
nations, nor shall they ever be divided into two kingdoms again. 23 They
shall not defile themselves anymore with their idols, nor with their
detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions; but I will
deliver them from all their dwelling places in which they have sinned, and
will cleanse them. Then they shall be My people, and I will be their God. 24 “David
My servant shall be king over them, and they shall all
have one shepherd; they shall also walk in My judgments and observe My
statutes, and do them. 25 Then they shall dwell
in the land that I have given to Jacob My servant, where your fathers dwelt;
and they shall dwell there, they, their children, and their children’s
children, forever; and My servant David shall be their
prince forever. 26 Moreover I will [c]make a covenant of peace with them, and it shall be an
everlasting covenant with them; I will establish them and multiply them,
and I will set My sanctuary in their midst forevermore. 27 My
tabernacle also shall be with them; indeed I will be their God, and they
shall be My people. 28 The nations also will know
that I, the Lord, sanctify Israel, when My sanctuary is in their midst
forevermore.” ’ ”
Micah 2: 12 “I will surely assemble all of you, O Jacob, I will
surely gather the remnant of Israel; I will put them together like sheep
of [j]the fold, Like a flock in the midst of their pasture; They
shall make a loud noise because of so many people. 13 The
one who breaks open will come up before them; They will break out, Pass
through the gate, And go out by it; Their king will pass before them, With the Lord at their head.”
Micah 4: Now it shall come to pass in the latter days That the
mountain of the Lord’s house Shall be
established on the top of the mountains, And shall be exalted above the
hills;
And peoples shall flow to it. 2 Many
nations shall come and say, “Come, and let us go up to the mountain of
the Lord, To the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways,
And we shall walk in His paths.” For out of Zion the law shall
go forth, And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. 3 He
shall judge between many peoples, And rebuke strong nations afar off; They
shall beat their swords into plowshares, And their spears into [a]pruning hooks; Nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
Neither shall they learn war anymore.
4 But everyone shall sit under his vine and under his fig tree,
And no one shall make them afraid; For the mouth of
the Lord of hosts has spoken. 5 For all
people walk each in the name of his god, But we will walk in the name of
the Lord our God Forever and ever. 6 “In
that day,” says the Lord, “I will assemble the
lame, I will gather the outcast And those whom I have afflicted; 7 I
will make the lame a remnant, And the outcast a strong nation; So
the Lord will reign over them in Mount Zion From now on, even
forever. 8 And you, O tower of the flock, The
stronghold of the daughter of Zion, To you shall it come, Even the former
dominion shall come, The kingdom of the daughter of Jerusalem.” 9 Now
why do you cry aloud? Is there no king in your midst? Has your
counselor perished? For pangs have seized you like a woman in [b]labor. 10 Be in pain, and labor to bring
forth, O daughter of Zion, Like a woman in birth pangs. For now you shall go
forth from the city, You shall dwell in the field, And to Babylon you
shall go. There you shall be delivered; There the Lord will redeem
you From the hand of your enemies. 11 Now also many
nations have gathered against you, Who say, “Let her be defiled, And let our
eye look upon Zion.”
12 But they
do not know the thoughts of the Lord, Nor do
they understand His counsel; For He will gather them like sheaves to the
threshing floor. 13 “Arise and thresh, O
daughter of Zion; For I will make your horn iron, And I will make your hooves
bronze; You shall beat in pieces many peoples; I will consecrate their
gain to the Lord, And their substance to the Lord of the whole earth.”
Micah 5: Therefore He shall give
them up, Until the time that she who is in labor has given
birth; Then the remnant of His brethren Shall return to the children of
Israel. 4 And He shall stand and feed[d] His flock In the strength of the Lord, In the
majesty of the name of the Lord His God; And they
shall abide, For now He shall be great To the ends of the earth;
5 And
this One shall be peace. When the Assyrian comes into our
land, And when he treads in our palaces, Then we will raise against him Seven
shepherds and eight princely men.
6 They shall [e]waste with the sword the land of Assyria, And the land
of Nimrod at its entrances; Thus He shall deliver us from
the Assyrian, When he comes into our land And when he treads within our
borders. 7 Then the remnant of Jacob Shall be in
the midst of many peoples, Like dew from the Lord, Like
showers on the grass, That [f]tarry for no man
Nor [g]wait for the sons of men. 8 And the
remnant of Jacob Shall be among the Gentiles, In the midst of many peoples,
Like a lion among the beasts of the forest, Like a young lion among
flocks of sheep, Who, if he passes through, Both treads down and tears in
pieces, And none can deliver. 9 Your hand shall be
lifted against your adversaries, And all your enemies shall be [h]cut off. 10 “And it shall be in that
day,” says the Lord, “That I will cut[i] off your horses from your midst And destroy
your chariots. 11 I will cut off the cities of
your land And throw down all your strongholds. 12 I
will cut off sorceries from your hand, And you shall have
no soothsayers. 13 Your carved images I will also
cut off, And our sacred pillars from your midst; You
shall no more worship the work of your hands; 14 I
will pluck your [j]wooden images from your midst; Thus I will destroy your cities. 15 And
I will execute vengeance in anger and fury On the nations that have
not [k]heard.”
Zechariah 8: 20 “Thus
says the Lord of hosts: ‘Peoples shall yet come, Inhabitants of many
cities; 21 The inhabitants of one city shall
go to another, saying, “Let us continue to go and pray before the Lord, And
seek the Lord of hosts. I myself will go also.” 22 Yes, many
peoples and strong nations Shall come to seek the Lord of
hosts in Jerusalem, And to pray before the Lord.’ 23 “Thus
says the Lord of hosts: ‘In those days ten men from every language
of the nations shall grasp the [k]sleeve of a Jewish man, saying, “Let us go with you, for we have
heard that God is with you.” ’ ”
Zechariah 13: 7 “Awake, O sword, against My Shepherd, Against the
Man who is My Companion,” Says the Lord of
hosts. “Strike the Shepherd, And the sheep will be scattered;
Then I will turn My hand against the little ones. 8 And
it shall come to pass in all the land,” Says the Lord, “That two-thirds
in it shall be cut off and die, But one-third
shall be left in it:
9 I will
bring the one-third through the fire, Will refine them
as silver is refined, And test them as gold is tested. They will call on My
name, And I will answer them. I will say, This is My
people’; And each one will say, ‘The Lord is my
God.’ ”
Matthew 19:
28 So Jesus said to them, “Assuredly
I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the
throne of His glory, you who have followed Me
will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
Jeremiah
16: 19 Yahweh, my strength, and my stronghold, and my
refuge in the day of affliction, the nations will come to you from the ends
of the earth, and will say, Our fathers have inherited nothing but lies,
vanity and things in which there is no profit. 20 Should
a man make to himself gods which yet are no gods?” 21 “Therefore
behold, I will cause them to know, this once I will cause them to know my
hand and my might. Then they will know that my name is Yahweh.”
Isaiah 2:4 He will judge between the nations, and will decide
concerning many peoples. They shall beat their swords into plowshares, and
their spears into pruning hooks.
Nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
neither shall they learn war anymore.
Matthew 25:31 “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the [c]holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His
glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from
another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. 33 And He
will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then
the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My
Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 for I
was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took
Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came
to Me.’
37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we
see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and
give You drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or
naked and clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 And the
King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you
did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you
did it to Me.’
41 “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you
cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: 42 for I was
hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; 43 I was a
stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick
and in prison and you did not visit Me.’
44 “Then they also will answer [d]Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a
stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ 45 Then He
will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not
do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to
Me.’ 46 And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the
righteous into eternal life.”
New Jerusalem
Genesis 2:9 Out of the ground Yahweh God made every tree to grow that
is pleasant to the sight, and good for food, including the tree of life in
the middle of the garden and the tree of the knowledge of good and
evil.
After Millennium, the second rebellion
Revelation 20:7 And when
the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 8 And
shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the
earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom
is as the sand of the sea. 9 And they went up on the
breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the
beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. And
the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone,
where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and
night for ever and ever.
Isaiah
27:1-6 In that day, Yahweh with his hard and great and strong sword
will punish leviathan, the fleeing serpent, and leviathan the twisted
serpent; and he will kill the dragon that is in the sea.
Ezekial 38: Now the word of the Lord came
to me, saying, 2 “Son of man, set your face
against Gog, of the land of Magog, [a]the
prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal, and prophesy against him, 3 and
say, ‘Thus says the Lord God:
“Behold, I am against you, O Gog, the prince of Rosh,
Meshech, and Tubal. 4 I will turn you around, put
hooks into your jaws, and lead you out, with all your army, horses, and
horsemen, all splendidly clothed, a great company with bucklers
and shields, all of them handling swords. 5 Persia, [b]Ethiopia,
and [c]Libya
are with them, all of them with shield and helmet; 6 Gomer
and all its troops; the house of Togarmah from the far
north and all its troops—many people are with you. 7 “Prepare
yourself and be ready, you and all your companies that are gathered about
you; and be a guard for them. 8 After many
days you will be visited. In the latter years you will come into the
land of those brought back from the sword and gathered from
many people on the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate;
they were brought out of the nations, and now all of them dwell
safely. 9 You will ascend, coming like a
storm, covering the land like a cloud, you and all your troops and many
peoples with you.” 10 ‘Thus says the Lord God: “On that day it shall come to
pass that thoughts will arise in your mind, and you will
make an evil plan: 11 You will say, ‘I will go up
against a land of unwalled villages; I will go to a peaceful
people, who dwell [d]safely,
all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates’— 12 to
take plunder and to take booty, to stretch out your hand against the waste
places that are again inhabited, and against a people
gathered from the nations, who have acquired livestock and goods, who dwell
in the midst of the land. 13 Sheba, Dedan,
the merchants of Tarshish, and all their young lions will say to
you, ‘Have you come to take plunder? Have you gathered your army to take
booty, to carry away silver and gold, to take away livestock and goods, to
take great plunder?’ ” ’ 14 “Therefore, son of man,
prophesy and say to Gog, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “On that day when My people Israel dwell
safely, will you not know it? 15 Then
you will come from your place out of the far north, you and many peoples with
you, all of them riding on horses, a great company and a mighty army. 16 You
will come up against My people Israel like a cloud, to cover the land. It
will be in the latter days that I will bring you against My land, so that the
nations may know Me, when I am hallowed in you, O Gog, before their
eyes.” 17 Thus says the Lord God: “Are you he of
whom I have spoken in former days by My servants the prophets of Israel, who
prophesied for years in those days that I would bring you against them? 18 “And
it will come to pass at the same time, when Gog comes against the land of
Israel,” says the Lord God,
“that My fury will show in My face. 19 For in
My jealousy and in the fire of My wrath I have
spoken: ‘Surely in that day there shall be a great [e]earthquake
in the land of Israel, 20 so that the fish
of the sea, the birds of the heavens, the beasts of the field, all creeping
things that creep on the earth, and all men who are on the face
of the earth shall shake at My presence. The mountains shall be thrown
down, the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the
ground.’ 21 I will call for a sword
against Gog throughout all My mountains,” says the Lord God. “Every man’s sword will be
against his brother. 22 And I will bring him
to judgment with pestilence and bloodshed; I will rain down on him,
on his troops, and on the many peoples who are with him,
flooding rain, great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. 23 Thus
I will magnify Myself and sanctify Myself, and I will be known in
the eyes of many nations. Then they shall know that I am the Lord.” ’
Great White Throne Judgment
Matthew 13: 49 So it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come
forth, separate the wicked from among the just, 50 and cast them into the furnace of fire. There
will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.”
John 5: 28 Marvel not at this: for the
hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
29 And shall come forth; they that have done good,
unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the
resurrection of damnation.
Hebrews 9: 27 And as it is appointed
unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
Revelation 20:10 11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from
whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place
for them. 12 And
I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened:
and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were
judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to
their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which
were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and
they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And
death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And
whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of
fire.
1 Corinthians 15: 24 Then
cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the
Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. 25 For
he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. 26 The
last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. 27 For he
hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put
under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under
him. 28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him,
then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under
him, that God may be all in all.
Judgment Seat of Christ
2 Corinthians 5: 10 For we must
all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the
things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good
or bad.
Revelation 19: 6 And
I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many
waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the
Lord God omnipotent reigneth. 7 Let us be glad and
rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and
his wife hath made herself ready. 8 And to her was
granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the
fine linen is the righteousness of saints. 9 And he
saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage
supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.
The Eternal City
Hebrews 11: 8 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place
which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out,
not knowing whither he went. 9 By faith he sojourned
in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with
Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: 10 For
he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
Isaiah
52:19 The sun will be no more your light by day; nor will the
brightness of the moon give light to you, but Yahweh will be your everlasting
light, and your God will be your glory. 20 Your sun
will not go down any more, nor will your moon withdraw itself; for Yahweh
will be your everlasting light, and the days of your mourning will end.
21 Then your people will all be righteous. They will
inherit the land forever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands,
that I may be glorified. 22 The little one will become
a thousand, and the small one a strong nation. I, Yahweh, will do this
quickly in its time.”
Revelation 21: And I
saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth
were passed away; and there was no more sea. 2 And I
John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven,
prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I
heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is
with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God
himself shall be with them, and be their God. 4 And
God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more
death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for
the former things are passed away. 5 And he that sat
upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me,
Write: for these words are true and faithful. 6 And he
said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I
will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life
freely. 7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things;
and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. 8 But
the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and
whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their
part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second
death. 9 And there came unto me one of the seven
angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked
with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife. 10 And
he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me
that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, 11 Having
the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even
like a jasper stone, clear as crystal; 12 And had a
wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels,
and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the
children of Israel: 13 On the east three gates; on the
north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates. 14 And
the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the
twelve apostles of the Lamb. 15 And he that talked
with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the
wall thereof. 16 And the city lieth foursquare, and
the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the
reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of
it are equal. 17 And he measured the wall thereof, an
hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that
is, of the angel. 18 And the building of the wall of
it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass. 19 And
the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of
precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the
third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald; 20 The
fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolyte; the eighth,
beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth;
the twelfth, an amethyst. 21 And the twelve gates were
twelve pearls: every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the
city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass. 22 And
I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the
temple of it. 23 And the city had no need of the sun,
neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and
the Lamb is the light thereof. 24 And the nations of
them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the
earth do bring their glory and honour into it. 25 And
the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night
there. 26 And they shall bring the glory and honour of
the nations into it. 27 And there shall in no wise
enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh
abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book
of life.
Revelation 22: And he
shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of
the throne of God and of the Lamb. 2 In the midst of
the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of
life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month:
and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. 3 And
there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be
in it; and his servants shall serve him: 4 And they
shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. 5 And
there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the
sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and
ever. 6 And he said unto me, These sayings are
faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to
shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done. 7 Behold,
I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of
this book. 8 And I John saw these things, and heard
them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet
of the angel which shewed me these things. 9 Then
saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy
brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book:
worship God. 10 And he saith unto me, Seal not the
sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand. 11 He
that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be
filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he
that is holy, let him be holy still. 12 And, behold, I
come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his
work shall be. 13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning
and the end, the first and the last. 14 Blessed are
they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life,
and may enter in through the gates into the city. 15 For
without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and
idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. 16 I
Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches.
I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. 17 And
the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And
let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of
life freely. 18 For I testify unto every man that
heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto
these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this
book: 19 And if any man shall take away from the words
of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of
life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this
book. 20 He which testifieth these things saith,
Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. 21 The
grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
